Become an Authorized Provider with the American Lifeguard Association®
American Lifeguard and Safety Training™
Thank you for your interest in the American Lifeguard Association. We provide lifeguard certification programs through provider agreements to a diverse range of aquatic and public-safety organizations, including swimming pools, water parks, waterfronts, beach patrols, and aquatic facilities worldwide. Our programs are used across North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. In addition, we work with Fire and Rescue departments that require water emergency response training.
American Lifeguard and Safety Training™ provides a critical service with the support of employers and government agencies. The certification program of the American Lifeguard Association meets OSHA requirements for health and safety training, as well as regulatory, licensing, and accreditation requirements. Our program’s skills reflect ECC science and findings from the United States Lifeguard Standards Coalition Report. The American Lifeguard Association has also been listed over the years with the CDC Healthy Swimming website. In addition, the U.S. Department of Labor and the General Services Administration (GSA) have determined that the American Lifeguard Association offers lifeguard certification programs similar to those provided by the American Red Cross.
Authorized Provider Opportunity
The American Lifeguard Association offers provider agreements to qualified entities. The annual provider fee is $1,495.00 per calendar year, plus a small per-student certification fee and shipping charges for group certification cards.
After you receive your American Lifeguard Provider Agreement, we will send you links to our online training videos and reference materials. Your designated staff member will need to become familiar with the program and learn the skills necessary to teach your students under your direct supervision.
Once your students complete the American Lifeguard Association training program, we will issue waterproof wallet certification cards for Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid. Rosters are submitted online upon course completion, and we process certifications within one business day. The provider may instantly receive a PDF snapshot of the front and back of each certification card. Physical cards are shipped by Federal Express on the same day, with a tracking number provided.

Provider Responsibilities, Fees, and Payment Terms
It is the responsibility of the Provider to ensure that candidates have access to the required reference materials and are able to complete the required skills.
The fee is $1,495.00 for the first registered instructor. Each additional instructor is $1,000.00 per calendar year. There is also an additional $25.00 per-student processing fee. All payments are due upon receipt of invoice. Your initial payment will serve as acknowledgment that you accept the full terms of this agreement.
Currently, the training videos and reference materials may be accessed through the Internet, so there is no study-material cost. We will email you the links to the online materials, along with all exams that must be reviewed and completed by each of your students.
Certification Processing, Rosters, and Verification
Upon completion of each Lifeguard certification class, which also includes CPR/AED and First Aid, the Provider must enter the student information into our online program and email us the number of students who completed the program. This information must include each student’s first and last name, along with their date of birth.
Student information must be entered on the same day the class is completed. Once we receive the roster, we will process the American Lifeguard Association certification cards within 24 hours and ship the waterproof certification cards by FedEx directly to the Provider.
Additional shipping fees will apply. However, we receive favorable FedEx rates due to the volume of business we conduct with them.
In addition, successful candidate results will be posted within 24 hours of receipt of the roster, or online exam, on our affiliate’s website at http://www.universalcertification.org, where they may be verified at any time in the future.
Please note that delays in turning in student rosters for group testing by the end of the day may result in suspension of your designation as an Authorized Provider.
